Neolithic Village Shkarat Msaied, Jordan

Neolithic Village
Shkarat Msaied, Jordan

Shkarat Msaied covers 1,000 square meters, and is located 15km or so north of Petra, on the way to Feinan. Its excavation report dates it to the first half of Pre-Pottery Neolithic B (7300 BC - 5900 BC). The architecture of Shkarat Msaied consists of circular rooms, in small groups, with smaller chambers cut into the spaces between the rooms. Unlike Beidha, the floors at Shkarat Msaied were set level to the ground, and show no evidence of a central roof pole.
