Reconstructed Neolithic House Beidha, Jordan

Reconstructed Neolithic House
Beidha, Jordan

This is the interior of the pointy-roofed house on the previous page. The construction of the walls was deduced from site excavations. Stone walls were built around an inner frame of upright wooden posts, and the walls were finished in clay mixed with reeds to provide waterproofing, keep out the wind, and help maintain the temperature inside. Circular houses date from the earlier Pre-Pottery Neolithic B. By the middle of the period, they were being replaced by rectangular houses
